Diagnostics

Diagnostic Assessment

The first appointments with a psychologist at Anchor Psychological Services will be focused on getting to know you and clarifying the nature of issues that you, your family, and/or your loved one are facing. Initial discussions will explore how you are functioning in different areas of your life and on the history and frequency of challenges you are experiencing. There will be an emphasis on understanding both strengths and challenges in your life. This process may include completing measures and/or having your psychologist consult with other professionals or important people in your life. If these meetings lead to a diagnosis, this diagnosis will be explained to you. At the completion of the assessment process (usually 1-2 sessions), each individual psychologist will share with you how she understands the issues. Together you and your psychologist will formulate a plan by developing treatment goals and discussing the approaches to be used to achieve those goals.
