Referrals & Fees

There are two ways you can access our services:
(1)  Self-referrals
(2) Referrals from health professionals

Self-referrals:
You can contact Anchor Psychological Services directly to make a self-referral.  Our confidential administration office will ask you to briefly outline your reasons for wanting to use our service to ensure that we can help and arrange an initial appointment with you.

Referrals from health professionals:
You can be referred to the psychologists at our pratice by your family physician, psychiatrist, or other relevant health professional.  Simply ask your referrer to send a letter, fax or email to us, including your contact details and a brief outline of your circumstances.

Once we have your referral, our office will contact you to arrange your initial appointment.

Fees:
Psychologist service rates are based on the guidelines set by the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA).  Please contact us for information regarding the fees for specific services.  The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) does not cover the cost of psychological services provided by registered psychologists.

Payment for Services:
Payment for services is due at the end of each session, and a receipt suitable for insurance and tax purposes will be given when payment is received. Payment by cheque, cash and interac will be accepted, and can be made payable to Anchor Psychological Services Inc.

Insurance Information:
Most extended health insurance plans will cover part or all of your costs to see a psychologist; however, the type of coverage that they provide can vary widely.  Check your insurance plan for information about your level of coverage.

Therapy Sessions:
Session fees are for 60 minutes = 50 minute session time plus 10 minutes for preparation and documentation of your care.
The initial consultation appointment is 90-120 minutes in length to allow for a proper assessment and discussion of your needs.

Psychoeducational Assessments:
On average, assessments involve 9 hours of interviews and one-to-one testing, done over multiple visits. Costs can range and cover intake, testing, scoring, report preparation, and feedback.

Cancelled or Missed Appointments:

In order to maximize the effectiveness of services, clients should prioritize their sessions. We require a 24-hour cancellation notice for appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Monday appointments must be cancelled by noon Friday. A full session fee will apply to missed and cancelled appointments that do not meet our 24-hour cancellation policy. A full session fee will also be applied to intake appointments cancelled less than 72 hours in advance
